Why do I need to keep my hands clean?

The most common way germs are spread is by people’s hands. Germs can cause illnesses such as colds, flu, and tummy bugs.

Keeping your hands clean is the single most important thing you can do to help reduce the spread of viruses and infections to you and your family. Preventing the spread of germs is the most effective way to slow the spread of diseases.

Cold and flu viruses are easily spread through the droplets that come out of the nose or mouth when someone coughs or sneezes which are often transferred to surfaces that the person touches, such as door handles, hand rails, ATM key pads and lift buttons.

If you touch these surfaces and touch your face, the virus can enter your system and you can become infected so it’s really important to keep those hands germ free!
